Collagen Induction Therapy - Microneedling

By inflicting tiny "injuries" on the skin that cause new collagen to be produced, micro-needling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, or CIT, enables a controlled process of the skin's self-repair mechanism.

Microneedling is used to treat fine lines, acne scars, superficial trauma scars, hypo- or hyperpigmentation, and to enhance the appearance of the skin. Microneedling may be combined with PRP, topical gels, creams, and/or serums to improve outcomes and help the skin's overall appearance.

Microneedling results in younger-looking skin with fewer aging signs as well as a decrease in the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally beneficial to stretch marks, acne scars, traumatic scars, and hypo- and hyper-pigmentation, collagen induction therapy also improves hyper- and hypo-pigmentation, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation in general.

For some patients, the best results can be obtained with just one treatment once a year. However, it is advised that the majority of patients undergo a series of 3 to 4 treatments spaced about 6 to 8 weeks apart. 

It is advised that patients with stretch marks, deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, or acne scars receive 6 to 8 sessions spaced six weeks apart.

The "glow" on the patients' skin is immediately noticeable. Changes are noticeable over the course of several days and weeks. 6 months after the procedure, the results might even get better because collagen is still being produced.

Patients typically observe tighter skin and a more even complexion one to two weeks after their initial session. In cases where there are deeper flaws, the results might be more subtle and necessitate additional treatments.

The effects of microneedling will gradually become more noticeable for up to 6 months as they encourage the production of new collagen and elastin.

Technically, microneedling requires no recovery time. You might have red skin after treatment. This is typical and to be anticipated. 

Redness typically lasts from one to 24 hours. You might also experience a little localized swelling. Your skin might start to dry out a couple of days after your treatment. While some patients choose to schedule their appointments for the weekend, others return to work right away.

It is important to understand that we cannot reverse the aging process; we can only slow it down. In light of this, results are not regarded as permanent because natural degradation will happen eventually. After microneedling, results can be seen for years, and with the right at-home skincare maintenance, results can last even longer.
